New Years Regatta

This is the regatta that started it all – a holiday party bar bet in 1931 turned into a few hardy souls showing up to race dinghies on January 1, 1932 in Manhasset Bay on Long Island.  The event proved successful, and thus the sport of winter sailing began, and from there, collegiate dinghy sailing a few years later.  Every New Years Day, sailors return to Manhasset Bay for this tradition-filled regatta, and the Annual Meeting of the Frostbite Yacht Club.”
